Base Stats
Strength - The raw physical power of the character. A character with high strength possesses a significantly developed musculature, while those with a low in this stat may appear slender or even gangly.
Constitution - The hardiness of a character. Whether it's developed muscle that lets them take a blow and keep going, or a peculiar hardiness in the face of abuse and disease, a character with a high constitution is able to roll with the punches.
Dexterity - The nimbleness of the character. A high dexterity indicates that a character is particularly adept, whether it's something physical like dancing... or something more focused like lock-picking. Hell, a weaver and any number of craftsmen require a high dexterity, particularly when something requires extreme control. A surgeon, too, would require a high dexterity.
Agility - The speed of a character. An agile character is able to sprint at high speeds, and usually hard to catch out of breath. On the downside, without at least an average dexterity they can become dangerously clumsy!
Intelligence - The book-smarts of a character. With a high intelligence, it's easy to assume that a character has gone through some sort of university or advanced schooling. A character with even an average intelligence should be literate, and while they may understand simple math and reasoning, may find more advanced concepts to be a real challenge.
Wisdom - The common sense and experience of a character. Shockingly, a character with a high wisdom can be completely illiterate, as the stat has nothing to do with schooling. A character with high wisdom is one who has seen and understands much, usually persuing either magic or other handed-down skills like the making of charms and potions, herbalism, and other esoteric skills.
Saves
Fortitude - Drawn from Strength and Constitution. A character's fortitude is their ability to physically recover from any sort of abuse or trauma. A character with a high fortitude is better able to withstand the effects of poisons, toxins, and recover more rapidly from injury.
Reflex - Drawn from Dexterity and Agility. A character's reflex is their ability to evade injury or misfortune due to split-second evasive instinct. A character with a high reflex is better able to luck out when it comes to just barely escaping injury. Now, this isn't something that applies to a series of attacks, but if the character is smart enough to bolt after the first shot taken at them it's invaluable.
Will - Drawn from Intelligence and Wisdom. A character's will save is their ability to withstand mental and emotional duress. A character with a high will may at times take less effect from spells cast upon them, and can better withstand mental attacks, bullying, or anything along those lines. A character with a high will can almost always keep a cool head.
