Overview
The first of the island's natives, encountered long since, are the marine iguanas that live peacably enough amidst those who have settled in Wyvern's Cove. The only known tribe are the Oxtlipa, a refreshingly friendly lot who have embraced the presence of outsiders (and their trade) while clinging to their traditional ways. These natives have been based roughly upon the aztec civilization, and as such share a number of traits with that culture. They tend to wear simple clothing in brilliant colors, though the younger generations have embraced here and there the more common mode of clothing to furres. Some have integrated better than others, as the official alliance between native and settler is only but so old. There are those who keep to their village and their lives and speak only their own language, and on the other hand there are those who have adopted 'western' modes of dress and taken jobs at the inn or port whilst speaking the common tongue fluently. As is always the case with more than a small sampling of people, all have responded differently to the new influence on their lives. Blessedly- none of those responses have been aggressive.
General Appearance
The males among the native peoples are significantly larger than the females. All are thick-bodied with sharpish pebbled scales, the females dark stoney colors while the males are oft far more vibrant. The interesting aspects of their build lie in their food source and means of getting it. Fine swimmers and fishers, the lizardfolk are able to dive deep and hold their breath for an incredible length of time. Most are talented with spears and nets, the only counter-force being their cold-blooded nature. They can only dive for so long, forced to resurface and sun to warm themselves again. Considering how much time they spend in the brackish waters of the bay or outright salt water of other prime diving spots, they've adapted as well with glands that filter the salt from their blood. Expelled through their brows or snorted from their muzzles, the stuff crystalizes upon their forehead in a fashion that can look dazzling to those unfamiliar with the process.
