1. Standard Characters - Any mundane character is bound to be accepted simply because they should be the staple rather than the exception! If your character is an average furre or any standard and balanced race you are welcome to play them to the hilt even before approval of the sheet. For a special note on hybrid (multi-species) characters, please scroll to the bottom of this thread. And because I know people are skimming... humans and human-looking characters are not playable 4in this dream. PLEASE actually read all of the rules so that you understand the setting!
2. Restricted Characters - Mages, any unnatural race, and any manner of supernatural race with supernatural or magical abilities must be approved before their uncanny abilities are used in play. Now, this doesn't mean that you cannot play at all- but keep in mind when you step in character that you are doing so without a portion of your character's normal capabilities. At least until the character is approved. If the race is not listed, make a special inquiry so that it can be either approved and granted a balanced template, or rejected in the setting. If in doubt, ask a staffer that's online or post on the forums!
3. Disallowed Characters - There are some things that.... we just don't want to see or deal with. Ghosts and creatures immune to general interaction are at the top of the list, followed by humans and dragons.
*The only way in which a dragon character may be played is in a 'furre/mortal' (note- CANNOT be human) guise with 'furre/mortal' abilities and nothing more. I don't want to refuse people the joy of playing with friends and in an enjoyable setting, but such characters tend to end up unintentionally overpowered. The reason for all the restrictions is that these characters are considered non-canon, NPCs, or generally overpowered races. And NPCs are meant to be controlled by the staff, not by the players. Remember, it's up to us to provide the story. It's up to you to simply interact with, steer, and enjoy it! A more complete list of restricted races is available below this post.
4. Dream Involvement - All characters are assumed to have a home and a profession, though if you wish them to be present in the dream you must apply for that! There is some responsibility to be had in exchange for ownership of even a small portion of the dream, though. All players with such claims are expected to actually play several times a week the role of their profession, lest the dream-space be wasted!
5. Abnormalities - Characters with any full immunities must be approved, and very possibly will not be. Characters must have a standard anatomy. Characters cannot be ethereal or be made from any substance that makes them hard or near-impossible to wound, such as metal, wood, or "super hard ultra-saiyan diamonds." (Yes- that does mean no golems).
6. Setting! - Please, when you choose a character to bring in or begin thinking the concept for a new one to play in this dream- keep in mind the setting. We are an off-beat dragonlands dream with a touch of general fantasy and the slightest beginning of a lean towards steampunk. Flintlocks are allowed, for example- though not by a long shot reliable due to the severe humidity and constant rain. Also keep in mind that what you reap will reflect what you have sown- and if your character is a standoffish jerk then you aren't going to get positive responses from those around you.
7. Wealth/Influence - Characters who are nobility, royalty, very rich, or own companies must be approved as they will have the ability to affect dream-wide change.
8. Impact - ANYONE can have an impact on the setting, from a noble sorcerer to a local prostitute. It's all in your willingness to be proactive, amiable, and use your common sense.
